I attended the University of Tennessee where I earned a B.S. in Human Ecology and a Master's in Social Work. I am a licensed clinical social worker and have worked in the mental health field over 25 years.
I practice from a holistic perspective so I'm interested in all aspects of your life and will work with you to identify and move toward changes that are right for you, while creating a space that's safe, relaxed, and free of judgment to explore what's important to you, what's hindering you, and how to make changes to enhance your life. I see adults and couples who want to work towards creating the relationships and lives they've always wanted.
I work with people who are interested in diving deeper into the exploration of who they are, how they fit in the universe, and how they want to live, while helping confront unresolved issues and fears. I believe that integration and psychotherapy work are journeys of healing, greater understanding, and acceptance. I also work with other healing professionals to create a holistic environment which promotes healing and wellness.
Trauma that results in symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can impact a person emotionally, mentally, and physically. Exposure to childhood abuse, abusive intimate relationships, sexual assault, military deployments and being a first responder can leave behind symptoms which interfere with a person's ability to work, parent, and connect with other people.
There is help - trauma symptoms can be treated and clients can let go of these painful memories and embrace life to the fullest. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting, methods which allow traumatic events to be processed at the neurophysiological level. In addition I incorporate Internal Family Systems therapy to integrate parts of self, mindfulness to facilitate a stronger mind-body connection, coaching techniques to set and reach goals, and cognitive behavior therapies to aid in the complete healing of exposure to trauma.
If you are experiencing depression or anxiety, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out a better way. Therapy provides guidance on how to manage and overcome troubling emotions. The majority of people experiencing anxiety and depression can benefit from having a safe space to explore the underlying obstacles and patterns that contribute, learn new coping skills for managing emotions, and finding a connected purpose that makes sense to you. I utilize a variety of modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and coaching techniques to help clients overcome difficult emotions.

Relationships are the essence of our lives. When our relationships are not thriving, we suffer. Often, this suffering can be relieved by learning new ways to communicate and connect that help bridge distance and repair bonds and create opportunity for deeper and stronger connection and commitment.
I provide couples counseling for all stages of a relationship including pre-marital, marital, and post divorce. I utilize a combination of evidence based modalities including Gottman Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. In addition to traditional weekly therapy, I can also provide more intensive services for those experiencing a relationship crisis or need a more immediate or convenient approach.
Divorce is a major life transition for every member of the family and it's sometimes overwhelming trying to navigate the 'new normal'. If you are struggling to co-parent after divorce, short-term counseling can help.
Learning new mediation, conflict resolution, and communication skills can enhance parenting cohesion, facilitate compromise and lesson tension around issues such as schedules, house rules, boundaries, and introducing new dating partners.
